Me thinks….
January 26, 2009I am not doing something right here. Can anyone read this?

Other things I love
January 25, 2009I also love Sunday. Great day to be lazy. Today was busy lazy though.
Yesterday at indoor spot league I was shooting the lights out. You know when you get “in the zone”? I was feeling it!
12 ends of 5 arrows each. Center of the circle (white part) counts as 5, with the “X” being perfect. 60 times 5 is 300…you know the math. 300 60x is pro level shooting. 300 40 something X is pretty good “Joe” shooting. 298ish 30 something X is pretty good Kona shooting.
Through 11 ends I was 275 with 41 X.
I finished 299 45 X. One 4….on the 56th arrow! I psyched myself out. I couldn’t take it. I am weak.
And I am so pissed! I almost had it! I wasn’t even freaked by the 12th end. I was telling myself, you got this, no problem. The shot felt good….I think I dropped my front hand too soon.
Feeling good about my shooting none the less. I am entered in a NFAA Sectional Indoor Championship this coming weekend. I won’t win (Pro’s will be there) but it would be nice to drop a 300 50X.
I love Alice Piasecki too.
Boobs and PBR
January 21, 2009Just a note: I love PBR.
And boobs. And tall leggy chicks. And shorter curvier chicks. And collarbones. And days where I don’t have to deal with BOAC.
I had a meeting with BOAC yesterday and I was explaining a need to ask employees why they leave our company so that we can attempt to fix employee morale and turnover rates, which were 53% last year. (We all know what they are, but this give us reasonable data, not just instinct). Of course we need this data by geographical unit, not just the entire company. BOAC said, and I quote: “I just feel like we are doing damage by trying to pull the company apart with all of your “measurements”. We need to keep the company whole, so people all do things the same”.
I tasted blood in my mouth. Swallowed hard and replied: “I don’t know what to say other than I don’t intend to cast unfavorable light upon any one division Director, but a problem in Milwaukee is not the same problem in Madison, La Crosse, or Eau Claire. By failing to pull apart the different units for statistical analysis we will only muddy the waters further, and therefore bury the problem. I don’t see your connection.”
Crickets. I think I heard the HR manager chuckle a little.
The moral? 80/20 analytics and logical thinking always outwits sheer stupidity.
Obama is the fucking man. Day one and he is already laying it down. Love it!
Did I mention I loved red toenail polish? And a great smile? And a vigorous appetite for making sweet love?
Off to “The Cities” for a two day business trip. Hope to catch a Wild game….just for Steve.
KLM Out!
something for the kids
January 20, 2009
As many of you know, archery (in all its forms: target, field, 3D, and hunting) is a big part of who I am as a person. It helps me to find my center. I enjoy the natural places in the world, the solitude that if provides me. I enjoy the mental clarity and focus required by this sport. I enjoy the competitive aspects of it, and the opportunity to coach kids who are just picking up the sport. And over the years I have developed a pretty nice shop where I can tackle just about any job related to archery.
I am fortunate enough to have a family that supports my habit. My son shoots, and enjoys the sport as well as the time we get to spend together. I don’t think he likes my coaching, but 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. Last year I bought my wife a bow and she took to it like a natural. She does not hunt, but every couple weeks we will go to the range for a “date night” and shoot. It is nice to have a hobby that we can enjoy together.
My daughters have been asking to tag along with their brother, or their Mother and I when we go to the range. Their opportunity to shoot has been limited to the backyard with an old stick bow (like you may have shot at camp) and a target. This recurve bow is hard to draw and not very accurate. This usually leads to frustration for all of us, and we wind up putting it back in the garage in favor of another activity.
I was lucky enough to find a real compound bow (with a rest and sight) that is small enough for them to shoot. It arrived via UPS yesterday, and I spent last night putting it together and tuning it so they could shoot it. Tonight after dinner I told them there was a surprise and to hurry up and take a shower. They were both bathed and dressed in record time, and begging Dad to share the surprise.
My older daughter is all girl, and the younger one is pure tom-boy. So, I didn’t have many illusions, but both were pretty stoked to see a “real bow” that they could pull back and shoot. We spent a few minutes having the “safety talk” and each of them got to fling a few arrows at the target. Not to my surprise, the older one became bored and informed me she was disappointed my surprise was not Nintendo Wii. (the kids are collectively saving their money for a Wii) The younger one shot for a good 20 minutes.
I don’t have many “aw shucks” moments as I can be a stick in the mud, but it was fun to share my passion with my 6 and 7 year old angles tonight.

Sunday night TV is for grownups!
January 18, 2009Dig it kids, its Sunday night! Time for Daddy to retreat to the man cave and watch his shows. Cut me a little slack, it is the only TV I watch, outside of sports and background noise.
The Mormons are back (Big Love), and I have a crush on Chloe Sevigny. She is such a nasty in her Prairie outfits!
I also like The L Word, and not for the obvious reasons (hot naked women getting it on with each other) but the story lines are interesting. Yeah, I said it….call me what you will. Problem is, it is up against the Mormons, and I prefer Utah to Los Angeles. Will have to catch the ladies from L late night.
I also just just watched the United States of Tara. It has some promise, and I hope they didn’t blow their load on the pilot. Looks like some funny stuff going on in this one, particularly to those of us who work in the behavioral health field.
Secret Diary of a Call Girl is entertaining, but not a must see. Same with Flight of the Conchords, I enjoy the wit of the Kiwi’s, but not something I Tivo.
Since the end of The Sopranos and Oz, it has been a rough go finding something that is a must see. Dexter used to do it for me, but I actually gave up on it after two episodes this year.
Anyone else a fan of these…or others worth watching?

The Granddad of the FJ
January 16, 2009(more for the Fujific man….)
I was fortunate enough to stumble on this when the seller was in need of cash. It has been a good truck that gets me where I need to go.
Toyota Land Cruiser 1988 FJ62. ( not really sure what the FJ stands for…)
According to Google: The “F” is a reference to that early 50’s engine series type and the “J” refers to the body style of the 1950’s 4 Wheel Drive Land Cruiser vehicle.
The third and fourth digits, 40, identifies the generation code for the vehicle’s engine, which is the first generation.
thought for the day…
January 16, 2009What a guy….
January 15, 2009Won’t we all miss him? Regardless of your affiliation, you have to admire such a complete moron making it to the top. Forget how fucked we all are, and our kids, and probably their kids too….it’s kind of a heart warming story.
Boy meets cocaine, boy finds God, boy gets bamboozled into the Presidency. Makes me teary…on the inside.
Go fuck yourself George. I hope the Devil has a tremendously humongous dildo he saves just for your lily white ass.
Hell
January 15, 2009Lets see:
- -20 degrees outside
- 3 kids with cabin fever
- one kid with the pukes
- cell won’t stop ringing with work crap
- Dad is visiting from NC for two days, and currently sleeping in my favorite chair
- Wife is at work
- too early for a stiff drink
Does this qualify as “Hell”?
JS lives!
January 13, 2009So it is back. Looks a little different, and feels unfamiliar….but I have a page up and running. We shall see.
Hope to see you there.
Peace,
KLM
